I was bitten by the travel bug when I was 13 years old and took my first flight from San Diego to Los Angeles. As the years progressed and I gained more maturity and financial means, I sought opportunities to explore the world outside of my native San Diego.
Europe calls my name over and over and I’ve explored many of the countries and of course, have my favorites which I return to as often as possible.
I’m not much for exotic travel and have recently completed journeys in the good ole USA, even close to home. What a concept!
After retiring from county service, I decided to do something I always wanted to do and that was being a travel writer. To better educate myself about travel writing, I completed an on-line travel writer’s course which was very helpful in developing skills and techniques to be a great writer and how to publish. I next attended Book Passage’s Travel, Food and Photography Conference in Corte Madera, California and I learned an enormous amount from the experts which encouraged me to keep writing and pursue publishing avenues.
My wonderful husband sometimes travels with me along with his nice camera for the photography part and this works well for the two of us. When I “take” pictures with my little point and shoot camera, he painstakingly makes the pictures much better for print. It’s a good thing when he travels with me.
Travel is a highlight of my life to open my eyes and mind and experience the world in different ways. But I must say it’s good to come home and appreciate my many blessings and then start planning another trip.
My hope with my articles is that it gives people a vision to travel outside of routines and expectations and enrich lives in a satisfying way. Here’s to your travel adventure…
