Just one scoop wouldn’t do it. Berthillon Ice cream is considered one of the best ice creams in France and maybe the world. Located on lle Saint Louis, behind Norte Dame and near the Seine River, it is a sweet place people flock to for many varieties of ice creams.

I had the chance to speak with Berthillion’s grandson, Liomel, and he said the ice cream is extraordinary because of the products they use. Fresh cream from Normandy made specifically for them, rich cocoa from the Ivory Coast and Madagascar vanilla. The pear ice cream was light and tasted like true pears and I inquired how it was made. The pears are cooked and reduced with the juices and added to cream. Then I asked how the vanilla ice cream was so fragrant with vanilla. That Madame, is a secret!
