I’m happy to say The Hamburger Factory in Poway is still serving delicious Patty Melts, Reubens and salads after many years of being located in Old Poway Park. A noticeable step back into the old west is the feeling while looking at all the memorabilia throughout the restaurant.
The menu is full of American food items and I had my toasty sandwich served with an endless glass of ice tea. While hamburgers and sandwiches are popular, the chicken salad looked good, too.
The rustic restaurant is ideally located in the turn of the century park with plenty of space for kids to play. Maybe take a train ride on the Poway-Midland Railroad which operates around the park after purchasing a ticket at the old fashion depot. How fun to spend time in the park and restaurant on a lazy day.

I had heard about a top notch burger served in Pacific Beach at Rocky’s Crown Pub on Ingraham St, so I gave it a try. After finding street parking, I noticed it’s a neighborhood no frills pub with no hostess to greet me. There must be something right about this place after 40 years of dishing out pitchers of beer and juicy burgers. My server wrote food orders on sticky pads and then hung them on clothespins over the grill. The burgers come with everything on them and fries are extra. Cash only. My lunch was hot off the grill and as I looked around the room, people were there to eat and drink and not to chit chat. Time your visit because it’s a small place with beach crowds during the summer.

Both places offer good food in different dining atmospheres.
