Driving up Waimea Canyon and Kokee Roads around curves on the two lane road eventually comes to the lookout point for the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. I wondered how this canyon could even come close to the famous Grand Canyon in Arizona and this does, its gorgeous.
Our day was bright and clear and the canyon with deep crevices displaying green, red and purple colors on the mountains was amazing to look at and to imagine how it happened to be. It truly is a cousin to the “real” grand canyon.
Heading further north, is the lookout for Na Pali coast and its hard to see where the ocean ends and the clouds start since there is a disappearing horizon. I live in beautiful San Diego and these two sites were eye captivating. Lunch at Brick Oven Pizza and dinner at Red Salt made for a lovely day.
