Where do you take a 16 year old grand nephew for wings? Cali Comfort for Low ‘n Slow bbq in Spring Valley, of course! Brad exclaimed these were the best wings ever, while he dipped into all the different sauces and gobbled each wing.
Being an adult, I opted for a pulled pork sandwich and then a bloody Mary caught my eye. It looked exotic and, well, since it was served with a piece of candied bacon only on Sundays, I had to give it a try. Maria, our server, told me the mix is made in house and one sip woke up my taste buds.
This restaurant serves beans like none other I’ve had at a BBQ joint and named wedding beans. The side of beans are creamy, uniquely tasting and made from a secret family recipe. I’d go back just for the beans!
Owner Shawn Walchef, is positively involved with the community and has a full calendar of events for his restaurant and sports bar. He is so focused on darn good BBQ, classes are given to become a BBQ judge which leads to judging at BBQ competitions. I’m bringing Chris here to take the class and then he’ll be qualified to judge at BBQ sanctioned events (and I can tag along).
Cali Comfort is a happening restaurant, pass the sauce, Brad!
