Fosters Freeze is celebrating their 70th anniversary and in my old neighborhood, Fosters has been on Waring Rd in Allied Gardens nearly 50 years.
Many memories of friends and I walking to Fosters for hamburgers, fries and shakes as a fun place to hang out. Good old fashioned and satisfying American food. The hot fudge sundaes were so good in high school! People from the area now take their kids and grandkids there to keep the tradition going strong.
There may be lots of new hamburger places, some edgy, some with modern twists, but Fosters Freeze is full of childhood nostalgia. It’s the simple things in life.

M’Liss one of my many jobs before you-know-where was at the old Foster’s Freeze in Vista, about 1968. Soda jerk/ ice cream-shake counter/ food prep chopping fresh onions, tomatoes/ short order cook. Did it all. Quality fast(er) food was available then, freshly made. I will seek this out in Allied Gardens. Thanks!
