The Big Island, dry on the Kona side and wet on the opposite Hilo area.  Once arriving into Kona airport and driving north to Waikoloa, the field of lava and rock can be seen for miles.  Our first time visiting friend saw the ocean from a distance and wondered if we would be near the splashing waves or settled into lava rock.  Our quiet resort sits on a lush golf club and has winding lazy pools with gorgeous foliage.  Yesterday, the scent from the ginger plants greeted me in the morning and in the afternoon the other colorful flowers flew off the trees and delicately graced the spacious lawns.
