She hesitated to knock the crumbs out of both Madeleine baking pans. But, her New York publisher was yelling at her to remake the madeleine recipe or the recipe book couldn’t go to print. You see, the pans had belonged to Julia Child and were a keepsake.
Chef Gale Gand, washed the pans, made the madeleines and had the book published. Chef Gran hosted Food Network’s Sweet Dreams for 8 seasons and has a Michelin star restaurant in Chicago. She travels the world teaching pastry classes and her madeleine pans travel along.
Chef graciously demonstrated the recipe and welcomed taste tasters. I savored Julia’s legacy in each buttery and heaven scented morsel.
