After our walking tour around Lisbon, my tour guide Pat Madeira and I needed a traditional lunch and headed to neighborhood restaurant, Esquina Da Bica. We ordered a trio of croquettes (meat, veal and cuttlefish), fish fritters, rice with tomatoes and tempura green beans. Plus good Portuguese wine.
Pat pointed out the filling mixture for each croquette and we enjoyed a leisurely 2 hour lunch chatting and tasting the food and wine.
Once back to my hotel, I sat on the patio reflecting on the beauty of Lisbon and ordered a glass of Portuguese wine from the Douro region. The tile decor on the bottle was beautiful and at 4.50 Euro a glass, it’s one of the many great bargains in Portugal.
Apreciar (I enjoy the good things in life)!
