My first time to the North shore of Kauai and the restaurants in this area are upscale, beautiful scenery and all price ranges. The Tavern, a restaurant by Roy Yamaguchi, is in a gorgeous building overlooking a world class golf course. Happy Hour is a great time to try reasonably priced drinks and appetizers as the sun sets over the ocean. The macadamia nut flat bread with pesto was so good and dessert of Tavern pie with layers of coconut pudding, chocolate pudding and whip cream was decadent.
In Hanalei, is Bar Acuda with Tapas style plates and although the servings appear small, I was full quickly. The short ribs were tender and mahi mahi cooked perfectly. We sat at the chef’s table overlooking the open kitchen and the chefs interacted with us when they could, the place is turning out lots of food.
On the casual side in Hanalei is the flat pizza and sauce made with red wine at old time Hanalei Pizza. Good thin crust with salad for $24.
I found Hanalei, a laid back little town, full of pretty good eating
places and a mellow crowd.
