Starting off the day with a complexly made bloody mary including grey poupon mustard and old bay seasoning at Finz’s sea food restaurant, I savored an angus beef hamburger as a nice change from seafood.  The others, on the other hand, devoured raw oysters served on a bed of ice.  How can we still be eating?!

We then walked to the Salem Witches Memorial and graveyard and reflected on that period of history.  Salem has many shops with psychic readers, seances and  tarot readers but the scene has expanded out from there.  On front street are modern, urban shops like the Roost, an urban country gift store and Scrub, full of environmentally friendly bath items. The yarn store had a table full of women knitting and talking and Maria’s Sweet Something talked me into eating locally made ice cream.  Working our way back to the car, we smelled the aroma from A&J King Bakery and brought bread puddings and decadent cakes to last us until dinner!
