On many recommendations in Montgomery, Alabama, for the #IFWTWAAL conference, I decided to try lunch at Mrs. B’s for home cooked food. The old building was bustling with diners eating foods that looked very southern to me from my limited knowledge of soul food. Collard greens, mac n cheese, chicken, sweet potatoes, gravy, cornbread and more .
I was fortunate to meet Mrs. B, Margaret Boyd, who learned to cook from her grandmother on a wooden stove in Selma, Alabama. She opened her restaurant 10 years ago and what keeps her going everyday is grace and faith. Love is her secret ingredient in her cooking and its easy to taste in her delicious, old fashioned food.
