I stepped back into history yesterday by visiting the birthplace of the industrial revolution at Slater Mill in Pawtucket, RI.   The tour was in depth about the start of water powered mills and vintage textile machinery and how a few people had the idea to start it all in New England in the late 1790’s.  Their vision for producing textiles in the new USA began the industrial revolution and spread across the country introducing company stores.

The Blackstone river provided the power source for cotton spinning and the company used children as young as 6 years old to increase the profits for the owners.  There are 10,000 historic sites along the Blackstone Valley and when will I have time to visti them all?

And then there are the ghosts often seen at the mill…
