What could be a more perfect weekend than enjoying a homey breakfast in a garden setting and listening to homegrown music! Talk about home grown, it’s all here at City Farmers Nursery. Bill has been in nursery and gardening work many, many years and his store has hard to find items and throwbacks to yesteryear. Need beekeeping supplies, it’s here, organic seeds, ditto along with a calico cat lazing around and enjoying the customers.
A country looking café on the property is Nate’s Garden Grill cooking inside and outside in cast iron skillets. Homemade biscuits and house cured bacon are a few of the ingredients with “integrity”. The bacon is scrumptious and ice tea with mint hit the spot on a recent warm day. Jazz and bluegrass music adds to the relaxing atmosphere by the three piece band playing away on the porch.
After a hearty meal, its time to walk it off by exploring the gardens and deciding which fruit trees to buy and plant at home. Kids love the goats and their babies, a wild turkey and chickens doing their thing. A big house sits in the back and that’s where fun cooking classes are held from time to time.
Unplug from the hectic race and enjoy some time in this garden delight.
